The staff was really friendly, and helped out tremendously as we had to coordinate everything from San Jose. They are closed on mondays, so you should call to schedule an appointment as they get pretty busy.

Flowers as window decorator
Plants such as Campanula pyramidalis were used as a window decorator trained round a hoop or as a fire-screen in summer time grown on a fan-shaped trellis; A really delightful idea.
The window boxes planted with greenery and with the addition of the archway or hoop covered with trailers seem to have very much the vogue. Such plants as Virginia creeper, honeysuckle, summer Jessamine were used for this purpose, and appear to have been very successful.
Ferneries and water gardens were commonly set up outside the drawing-room or hall by means of a small glass cupboard built on to an outside wall and serving as greenery window or a sort of picture of interesting plants on one wall of the room. Many of the indoor plants which people consider rather new nowadays were well known to the Victorians and decorated their homes-notably rubber plant, etc., and it is interesting to note that such comparatively difficult things as club-moss, Killarnery-fern, pitcher plant, fly trap were recommended for growing in plant cases window frames and other places about the house.!
